Teacher Loan Forgiveness
The Teacher Employee Forgiveness Program is designed to encourage individuals to enter and continue the teaching profession. Under this program, if you teach full-time for five consecutive full academic years at certain elementary and high schools and educational services agencies serving low-income families and other qualifications, you may be eligible for forgiveness programs.
Public Service Loan Forgiveness Programs
If you are employed in public service jobs and meet certain requirements, the remaining balance you owe can be forgiven.
American Corps is a national program network that helps communities across the country. American Corps offers a variety of ways to get involved, from part-time local service programs to full-time residential programs. Members receive guidance and training so that they can make a contribution that meets their talents, interests, and availability. American Corps offers programs to help you invest in your loan or future educational costs.
Peaceseeker Corps is a federal agency that provides volunteers to foreign countries. Peaceseeker Corps volunteers work in the following areas: education, youth outreach, and community development; business development; agriculture and environment; health and HIV/AIDS; and information technology. Within these areas, the specific duties and responsibilities of each volunteer may vary widely. Volunteers may request the postponement and partial cancellation of certain types of student loans.
